Richland College (of the DCCCD) is proud to showcase the Personal Victories and Richie Budd as they present their third collaboration: Richie Budd Featuring Personal Victories. A multimedia and multi-sensory opening promises to penetrate its needle like phalanges deep into the subconscious of all attendees. A network of neurological pathways will be installed for memories of the event to surface far into the future. The one-night-only opening performance is scheduled for 7- 9 p.m. on Friday September 3, 2010. Components of the performance and selected works will be on display for the duration of the exhibition. (Saturday, September 25th will be the final day of the exhibition as the gallery will remain open from 1-4 p.m. for DADA’s Spring Gallery Night.
The performance will include sculpture, light devices, and music/sound. The event has potential to function as concert, light show, performance and spectacle entwined with cognitive dissonance.
Richie Budd received his MFA from the University of Texas at San Antonio and has exhibited and preformed extensively with his unique ability to utilize sculptural objects, performance and sensation as a conduit to emotion and memory. Richie Budd has participated in the ARTPACE artist-in-residence program in San Antonio and the Centraltrak artist-in-residence in Dallas. His work was recently reviewed in “Artlies” by Hills Snyder and previously by Michael Odom.
About Personal Victories: In between sessions of super-positioning and influencing the Zeitgeist, the “Personal Victories” have materialized to feature their sonic culture in the rays of Richie Budd’s illumination extravaganza. First sighting appeared at Rubber Glove’s in Denton TX with George Quartz, and was followed by a performance at the 3 Propositions art opening in Ft. Worth TX., both in 2010. These incarnations successfully altered states, provoked dance consciousness, and down right split wigs. The union between Richie Budd and the Personal Victories is now solid as the universe beckons another onslaught.
